Bouquets and Boutonnieres

Picture
My bouquet will contain peonies, cymbidium and mokara orchids, frilly tulips, and roses in pink, coral, orange and yellow.  My bridesmaids' bouquets will be smaller versions of my bouquet, containing peonies, cymbidium and mokara orchids and roses in shades of pink, coral, orange and yellow.  The flowergirl will carry a pomander of pink and coral orchids.  My mother will wear a wrist corsage with a cymbidium orchid.  The groom will wear a boutonniere containing an orange frilly tulip, and the groomsmen and ushers will have boutonnieres containing cymbidium orchids (like the one on the left, except a deeper shade of pink).

Ceremony Flowers

Picture
We agreed that the MSU Alumni Chapel was so beautiful that we didn't need to over-fill it with flowers or decor.  We are going to install single candelabras down the aisles and put orchids in/on them for color and effect.  We are also going to put floral arrangments to the large multi-tiered candelabras at the altar, which we chose instead of creating large altar arrangements which would block the steps or be so far in the back of the church that the guests wouldn't notice them.  These candelabra arrangements will be made of roses, orchids and peonies.

Reception Flowers

Picture
For our reception, we will be attempting to re-purpose some of the flowers from the church.  The flowers on the altar candelabras will be moved to the entrance to the reception hall, where they will be flanking the doors.  There will also be a large floral arrangement of roses, orchids and peonies on the escort card table.

My bouquet and the bridesmaids' bouquets will be used on the head table, which will be set with orange table cloths, votive candles and vases for the bouquets.

For the guest tables, there will be three different centerpiece arrangements, which will alternate around the room.  First, on 7 tables there will be tall arrangements of pink, coral, orange and yellow orchids surrounded by three glass cylinders filled with water and submerged orchids and topped with floating candles.   On 7 tables, there will be medium arrangements in square vases containing peonies and roses in pink, coral, orange and yellow, surrounded by votive candles.  On the last 5 tables, there will be vases of water with submerged orchids, topped with floating candles and surrounded by votive candles. These will be surrounded by three small square vases with single large blooms in them.

The bars will have vases of orchids on them, most likely containing the orchids from the aisle candelabras at the chapel.

Our Rememberance Table will feature large silver and glass hurricane lanterns with pillar candles and rose petals between the photographs.

Our cake table will be decorated an watermelon satin tablecloth with votives and rose petals around the cake.  I want to keep it simple and let the cake speak for itself (it's going to be gorgeous).
