Our Story

I met Pete during an experimental trial using the dating website eHarmony.  I never thought I'd meet the man of my dreams, but I did.  Pete and I met on September 5, 2008 after a month of emailing and talking on the phone.  I finally decided that I was done with being penpals and wanted to actually meet the guy I'd been talking to so much.  And I'm SO glad that I did.  Pete is a quirky, hilarious Philadelphia native who loves the Phillies and Flyers and believes that cheesesteaks and Tastykakes should be their own food groups.  I'm a native of Holt, MI, a small town outside of Lansing, who loves Michigan State sports, the Dave Matthews Band and my miniature Schnauzer mix, Bella.  Pete and I bonded over the fact that we both love going to concerts and we're both northerners living in Tampa, FL (and that we both think most Floridians are crazy).  We have had many great adventures together and we're the best of friends.

Pete and I got engaged on June 5, 2010 at the Renaissance Vinoy Hotel in St. Petersburg, FL during the most romantic experience of my life.  I knew at the time of my proposal that I was the luckiest girl alive.  Pete surprised me with a series of clues, including instructions to pack an overnight bag and take my dog to our friend's house for the night.  I had no idea what he was up to, but I played along and enjoyed the ride.  After following the clues, I wound up in a hotel room at the Renaissance Vinoy, that was filled with roses and tulips (my favorite flowers).  I was instructed to meet Pete in the lobby after enjoying my champagne and strawberries, which I did happily (who doesn't love champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries?).  I met Pete in the lobby and we walked down the bayfront to the Parkshore Grill.  We had a great dinner and I asked Pete what was next.  He asked to go back to the room to finish the champagne, so we strolled back to the hotel.  When we got to the room, it had been entirely reset with rose petals on the floor and in the shape of a heart on the bed (cheesy, but cute).  There were also a bunch of candles lit and a bottle of my favorite wine waiting on ice.  Pete then told me that he had seen a lawyer and had some adoption papers drawn up--to adopt my dog, Bella!  I thought it was so sweet, but I didn't guess what was coming next.  He pulled out a ring and asked me to make our relationship official first, and he asked me to marry him.  Naturally, I said yes and we enjoyed the rest of the night, including a spectacular fireworks display over the bay.

Since June, Pete has moved in with me and I have been extremely busy planning our June, 2011 wedding, which will be held in my hometown of Lansing, Michigan.  I am trying to put most of the major details in place early so I will have less to worry about in the months before the wedding.  Inevitably, I'll still have a ton of things to do and I'm sure I'll be going crazy as our wedding day approaches.  That's just my style.  I'm a little bit of a control freak when it comes to important things, like my wedding day.  I am not the type of girl who will turn into a bridezilla (and my fiance thanks me for that), but I will be sure to dot my i's and cross my t's on the event details.
