Michigan Reception

Immediately following our ceremony, we will head over to the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center for our reception.  We didn't get the particular ballroom we initially wanted, but I think we'll be happy with the other ballroom space nonetheless.  We are doing uplighting around the perimeter of the room in shades of pink and orange, and we will have monogrammed lighting on the dancefloor.  We are doing a traditional head table instead of a sweetheart table simply because that's best arrangement for seating around the dancefloor in that room.  We are planning to have a photobooth at the reception and we got an amazing DJ (I believe he's the best in town).  We will be having to hold the cocktail hour in the same room as the reception, so we are creating a cocktail area on one side of the ballroom with a hors d'oeuvres buffet, cocktail rounds and 2 bars, leaving the center and other side for dinner seating. the photobooth and dancing.  We will be serving a plated dinner with three menu options, which guests will select on their invitation reply cards.  There will be an open bar throughout the evening, and we will have a traditional three-tiered wedding cake as well as a themed grooms cake.  We are also toying with the idea of having a dessert buffet or late night snacks brought in later in the evening.

Florida Reception

Our party in Florida will really be just that--a party to celebrate our marriage.  We will be skipping the traditional wedding cake, dances and such, and we will try to keep the atmosphere fun and casual.  This party will be a cocktail reception, and will begin at 8:00 pm and last until 12:00 am.  We will be having a hot and cold hors d'oeuvres buffet and a multi-flavored cupcake display in lieu of a wedding cake, which I think our guests are going to love.  We're going to try to keep the decor simple for this event, since the stunning views of the water will speak for themselves.
